Belated Happy New Year to all of you!!!
May this year be a good year too!

Spoken Japanese Basics Course (LA1210) and Reading and Writing Basics Course (LA1560) were conducted in Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) from Aug to Oct 2021.

258 students (229 in IITH, 29 IIITR) completed LA1210 and 205 students (191 in IITH, 24 at IIITR) completed LA1560 this year. This course aims for students to acquire the basic grammatical knowledge and command of the language communicatively in a classroom. The individual final oral exam and reading exam were conducted on our Learning Management System (LMS). The number of students is increasing gradually every year.

During the 8-week course of Spoken Japanese course, we conducted a controlled experiment to investigate the effect of teacher’s written feedback (which is categorized as computer-mediated feedback) rigorously all thanks to the generous understanding of the Liberal Arts department.

Due to COVID-19 issues as a major trigger, our course was shifted to a fully online Japanese course this year. It was very sad that we could not introduce hands-on experiences such as kimono dressing and calligraphy demonstrations. Hopefully, I can visit the campus next year!
